Joe was introduced to hunting at age 14 when his uncle took him deer and rabbit hunting on his Grandma’s farm in Pike County. He has continued to hunt there and has enjoyed building blinds so that he and his children can hunt alongside each other. To him it is about spending time together and hopefully bringing home a story to share with family and friends.
In 2015, the Lord was leading Joe to be a part of a ministry that would draw young men to the Lord through hunting. “It felt like He was leading me to find an established ministry where I did not have to reinvent the wheel.” Then, this spring Joe attended the Iron Sharpens Iron Conference in Springfield. That is where he met Eric 'Bear' St. Pierre. Bear introduced Joe to CTO, and the idea of starting a Sangamon County Chapter. Bear has brought together and supported several great guys from Sangamon that share this vision. They all have been meeting regularly at Scheels to plan and launch CTO Sangamon County.
Joe’s son and he were blessed to attend this year’s CTO Ultimate Summer camp. “It was a great experience!” Joe hopes to take many young men from Sangamon County next year.
“If the Lord is stirring your heart to find out more about CTO, please call or email me. I look forward to talking with you. CTO is a great organization that I feel the young men in our county need. There is a way for everyone to serve. Like Matthew West sings ‘...if not us, then who?’”
